Lincoln Technology Solutions Showcases Six Display Innovations Advancing Performance, Efficiency, and Reliability in 2025

7 January 2026 – Cary, North Carolina – Lincoln Technology Solutions (LTS), a U.S.-based display engineering and manufacturing partner, today announced six display innovations developed in 2025 that advance performance, efficiency, and reliability across its LCD, OLED, and Mini-LED platforms. These innovations reflect LTS’s continued investment in system-level display engineering designed for real-world environments and mission-critical applications.

LTS’s 2025 innovations deliver practical, production-ready advancements that raise brightness, uniformity, efficiency, and viewing performance while maintaining reliability and safety, and are being highlighted at key industry tradeshows such as NAB, SID Display Week, Embedded World, and RSNA.

1. FALD Zone Boosting Algorithm

Conventional Full-Array Local Dimming (FALD) displays often suffer from luminance roll-off and non-uniform brightness, especially near the edges, which can impact visual accuracy and perceived image quality. LTS, a pioneer at FALD since 2018, enhanced Full-Array Local Dimming (FALD) uniformity by selectively increasing luminance in targeted zones, achieving ±3% luminance uniformity and higher perceived contrast.
Designed for: Precision visual environments where consistent brightness and uniformity is critical.
Best for: Medical imaging, broadcast monitoring, and professional visualization systems.

2. OLED Viewing Angle Enhancements

Our healthcare and professional video customers value our OLED performance, including wide color gamut (AdobeRGB 99.6%, DCI-P3 100%), strong color accuracy, uniform luminance, and the absence of ABL. They also highlighted a common limitation of standard OLED displays: rainbow artifacts, color shift, and loss of low-gradation detail when viewed from extreme angles, which can impact accuracy in collaborative settings. In response, LTS improved off-axis performance to reduce color shift and rainbow effects while preserving low-gradation tones on white and near-white content, with dramatic improvements observed on our 21.6” 4K OLED. These advancements are portable across other OLED sizes in our product lineup.
Designed for: Wide-angle, multi-view, and collaborative environments.
Best for: Digital pathology, broadcasting monitors, medical review stations.

3. NVIS-Compatible Display

Mission-critical systems require displays that limit light output in the red and near-infrared wavelengths that night-vision goggles are sensitive to, while still being readable to the human eye. LTS addressed this challenge by developing an NVIS-compatible display that reduces emission in night-vision-sensitive wavelengths while maintaining unaided human readability, without the added complexity of dual-mode backlights. The solution complies with MIL-STD-3009, ensuring NVIS compatibility while preserving proper chromaticity for cockpit operations. Desirable results were achieved on the LCD210 10.1″ Edge-lit display, with the approach transferable across other LCD sizes in our lineup.
Designed for: Day and night operational environments.
Built for: Public Safety, Search & Rescue, Aerospace, defense vehicles, and mission-critical cockpit systems.

4. Mini-LED Power Efficiency

Increasing brightness in Mini-LED displays typically comes at the cost of higher power consumption and thermal load, creating challenges for power- and space-constrained systems. By integrating specialized optical architecture, LTS unlocked higher brightness without increasing power. LTS Mini-LED solutions demonstrate greater power efficiency than equivalent edge-lit products up to 85% Average Pixel Level (APL).
Designed for: Power- and thermally constrained systems.
Best for: handheld, portable medical devices, drone controllers

5. Thermal Mitigation for FALD Displays

High-brightness displays are often limited by thermal constraints, leading to throttling, reduced reliability, or safety concerns during continuous operation. Using thermal simulation and real-world validation, LTS achieved a ~15°C reduction at the cover glass, enabling a ~20% increase in achievable brightness without compromising reliability or safety.
Designed for: Systems operating under continuous duty cycles.
Best for: Outdoor, industrial, medical, and high-brightness embedded displays.

6. Advanced Mini-LED Backlight Architecture

Conventional Mini-LED backlights can suffer from halo and blooming effects, higher system complexity, and increased cost due to large driver IC counts. LTS introduced an advanced Mini-LED backlight architecture using Chip-on-Board (COB) and scanning techniques, delivering best-in-class halo and blooming reduction while reducing driver IC count and overall system cost.
Designed for: Scalable, next-generation Mini-LED platforms.
Best for: Thinner, brighter, and more cost-efficient commercial and industrial displays.

“These innovations reflect how we approach display engineering at LTS — not as isolated components, but as complete systems designed to perform reliably in real environments,” said Gary Kolbeck, President. “Our focus is helping customers unlock measurable gains in brightness, efficiency, and image integrity while maintaining long-term reliability.”
